Hitman 3 Review
Hitman 3 brings Agent 47’s own style of slow-paced stealth in a variety of dense, dangerous, and deeply diversified murder playgrounds to a magnificent crescendo. It’s plainly evident here that developer IO Interactive has well and completely nailed its act, even though it doesn’t veer from the killer chord combination it created for 2016’s Hitman and continuing to use in 2018’s Hitman 2.
Hitman 3 may seem primarily familiar to its two most recent predecessors due to some of the most unexpected and innovative levels in the franchise to date, but just picturing the many hours of chaos, devastation, and harsh humor that each of its six excellent new maps will provide makes me giddy.
It might be more accurate to describe this third and final installment of IO’s “World of Assassination” trilogy, which began with 2016’s Hitman, as an expansion rather than a sequel. If you’ve played Hitman before, especially in the past five years, you’ll be aware that Hitman 3 doesn’t much alter the bald bloke’s design. The stiffness of the interface and controls has not changed, and neither has the variety of uses for your weapons and equipment. The most prominent new tool in Hitman 3 is a camera that can be used to investigate or hack switches and other items. While useful, this tool doesn’t significantly alter the gameplay.
Hitman 3 is a fantastic installment of IO’s quirky but beloved stealth franchise. It is rich, gratifying, and incredibly re-playable. While the core concepts remain the same as they were in 2016, the game’s collection of excellent levels provides for a polished, dependable, and strong curtain-closer to the current Hitman trilogy.
Six maps might seem sparse, but each one is sizable and made to be played multiple times; even then, it’s highly doubtful that you’ll have found all of its inventive and unexpected assassination opportunities. There isn’t a single weak member of the group. Over the past 20 years, this barcoded butcher has made numerous cameos, but Hitman 3 is unquestionably one of his best.
